Small beginnings lead to big things.

Our Happy Homestead started as many things do - simply. Dave and Jesi have been slowly moving further and further out of town for the last ten years, incorporating back to basics techniques as they seek to return to the homesteading roots of their familiy lines.

What began as a simple blog outlet for Jesi soon grew into a full scale business for the family as Dave saw an opportunity to provide the basic tools and supplies required by the techniques and methods Jesi espoused. Between the basic education of the Lost Art of homesteading and a low cost source for the tools, they realized that they could help make other homesteads happy as well. Our Happy Homestead was born out of a desire to help the growing movement way from heavily processed foods and back to the basics of self-sustainability and preparedness - both the supplies and the know how to effectively manage the homestead.

One of the most exciting changes happening now is the desire for urban and suburban families to begin utilizing these techniques in their smaller town-based homes and land. Many of the whole food, gardening, game and meat processing and sustainability can be effectively used from the smallest kitchen downtown to the largest tract of 20,000 acres, everyone can benefit from becoming more involved in how their homestead operates.

It all comes down to a few simple things - experience, customer service, good prices and the willingness to help.
